How many international airports are there in Madrid?
Madrid has just one airport serving all the routes arriving to and departing from the city. Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport (code IATA: MAD, code ICAO: LEMD) is located in the northeast of Madrid, Barajas district, only 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Madrid city center.
Despite this extremely long name Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas, the airport is usually known as Barajas Airport or Madrid Airport.

Searching for the best hotels near Madrid airport?
To be honest, I’m not particularly proud to admit that throughout all my travels, whether personal or business, I’ve had to stay in a multitude of hotels near airports.
I don´t like sleeping in airports as most times I feel unsafe and uncomfortable leaving my belongings unattended.
And, overall, the expense is not that high compared with the cost of purchasing useless things at duty-free and eating expensive junk airport food. And at least you will have some rest before you continue your trip.

Hotels near Madrid airport are mainly meant to be functional, as they mainly target airline passengers who have overnight stopovers or suffer canceled flights, business clientele, and airline staff.
But most times they are not the best quality, with high rates, and the staff is not extremely kind to people who stay only for a few hours.
Where to Stay in Madrid near Barajas Airport
If you are searching for the best hotels near Madrid airport, you should not settle for a warm bed and a shower but for getting the most of the money you are paying.
It is especially convenient that they offer a shuttle service to transport the guests between the Madrid Barajas airport terminals and the hotel.
When calculating the time for your reservation, consider the time needed to get to the airport, wait for the shuttle, check in your baggage, and pass through all the security checks.
I have linked each hotel to its Booking.com page, where you can read other travelers’ reviews before and get the best price on your reservation.
Without further ado, these are my favorite hotels near Madrid Barajas airport, ranked from worst to best.
Air rooms Madrid Airport by HelloSky
Address: Airport Terminal T4, level -1
Phone: +34 91 327 60 15
Air Rooms by HelloSky offers 22 rooms located in the public area of Terminal 4 (floor -1). This is especially convenient if you are in transit, have an early-morning flight, or want to rest for a few hours and take a shower, as the hotel is inside Madrid Airport and rooms can be also booked for day use (3 or 6 hours).

The Madrid Airport Hotel has functional rooms and breakfast is available upon request, no pets are allowed.
This is the option to choose when you spend only a few hours in Madrid. But, in my opinion, it is an expensive alternative considering the quality of the rooms, quite basic and noisy, and without windows.
Also, as the hotel is located in Terminal 4, due to the Madrid Airport’s regulations, Air Rooms Hotel is not allowed to offer a private Wi-Fi connection and guests have to use the signal given by the Airport which is quite poor.

Some guests had some trouble finding the hotel. In case your flight lands in terminals T1, T2, and T3, you need to get the free “Transit” bus which connects the terminals to T4. This bus will drop you off on the second floor, take the lift to floor -1, and you will find it between the metro station and rental car offices.
Unless you are in Madrid for a very limited time, keep on reading to find better alternatives for hotels near Madrid airport.
Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Hotel
Address: Avenida General 49, 28042, Madrid
Phone: +34 913 01 09 99
Email: H3753@accor.com
Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto is located only 1 mile from Madrid-Barajas Airport. And well, you can imagine what to expect being part of the Ibis chain of hotels: budget, clean, and functional.

Being a 2-star accommodation, this is one of the best places to stay near Madrid airport in terms of value for money. The rooms are quiet, clean, and spacious enough for an overnight stay. Besides, there is a metro station and several restaurants near the hotel.
But, and this is an important BUT, for the moment the hotel does not have an airport shuttle, so you need to take a taxi. If you take into account this additional expense, this Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto is not as cheap as it could initially seem.
And, in my opinion, if you are searching for the best hotels near Madrid Airport there are better alternatives for only a few bucks.
Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport Hotel
Address: C. de Lola Flores 1, 28022, Madrid
Phone: +34 912 06 34 10
Email: recepcion@cpmadridairport.com
The Crowne Plaza Madrid Airport Hotel is part of the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG). You know that I love this brand, and I also included the InterContinental Hotel Madrid on my list of the best family hotels.

In this case, the Crowne Plaza brand is well-known for its business hotels that are near major financial districts and international airports.
You will find a modern and functional 4-star hotel near the Madrid airport which houses a fully equipped gym and comfortable family rooms composed of 2 double beds. In case you book a family room, your kids will enjoy a painting kit.
The hotel offers a convenient airport shuttle service active from 6:00 am to 11:40 pm. It is not a complimentary service, but it has a price of 2.50 € per person and includes 1 suitcase that will be transported in the trunk and 1 backpack or handbag.

In case you are interested in taking the shuttle, you need to call the hotel once you have landed to organize the pick-up. At the bottom of the hotel’s official webpage, you can see detailed indications to get to the shuttle stop.
For the best hotels near Madrid Airport, I always recommend planning the departure in advance with enough extra time to prevent traffic delays on the shuttle service, long lines to check-in your luggage, and to pass the security checks.

The NH Madrid Barajas Airport is a 3-star hotel close to the Madrid Airport, the historic Capricho Park, and a metro station that will take you downtown in only a few minutes.
As the hotel was completely renovated in 2017, the rooms are compact and basic but clean, comfortable, and modern, with plenty of natural light.
There is also a gym free for guests with a wide range of cardio machines, including a treadmill, cross trainer, and stationary bike as well as free weights and yoga mats. The outdoor wellness area is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun.

There is a free airport shuttle service that runs every day between 5:00 am and 12:40 am and can drop you off at any terminal. Don´t forget to contact the hotel or ask the front desk to reserve your seats in advance. For arrivals to Madrid, you must call the hotel once you have collected your luggage.
Considering this is a 3-star hotel, the price is not high. It is a good place to stay the night before an early flight from Madrid.

If you are attending a fair or a congress in Madrid, these are the best hotels near IFEMA.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, although the décor is a little bit outdated, especially from a renowned hotel chain like Melia. The hotel seems to be going through a renovation.

This 4-star hotel offers a gym on the 1st floor and a spectacular outdoor swimming pool surrounded by almost 3,000 m2 of gardens.
There is a free shuttle service provided by the hotel every 15 minutes from 4:30 am to 1 am to both the airport (Terminals T2 and T4) and the IFEMA Congress Center.

The Sercotel Madrid Aeropuerto Hotel is a 5-minute drive from Madrid Barajas Airport, in a peaceful residential area on the outskirts of the capital of Spain. This is the perfect place to disconnect and rest after a long flight.

Sercotel Madrid Aeropuerto Hotel offers free pick-up and drop-off from and to your terminal. If you have finally booked a room, don´t forget to contact the hotel upon arrival at the airport to arrange your collection.
In addition, there is a metro station about 0.4 miles away. I have no doubt this is one of my favorite hotels near Madrid Airport for an overnight stopover.
Maydrit Airport Hotel
Address: C. Piragua 1, 28042, Madrid
Phone: +34 911 96 92 00
Hotel Maydrit Airport is a modern, functional 4-star hotel located next to Barajas Airport and El Capricho, one of the top-rated green areas in Madrid. You will find a few bars and restaurants and a mini-market in the surroundings.

The hotel offers elegant facilities and services so you can enjoy a comfortable stay, whether you are traveling to Madrid on holiday or business.
It is a great value hotel near Madrid airport with excellent transport connections with the city center and its tourist attractions thanks to the proximity to the metro station of El Capricho (green line 5, direct connection to central Madrid in 25 minutes), which is just 150 yds away.
Hotel Maydrit Airport has two outdoor terraces and a swimming pool open in summer, the perfect place to cool off.

There is a free transfer service from and to the airport from 6 am to midnight. This service is provided upon request and subject to availability so don´t forget to call the hotel for detailed information as soon as you have landed.
A minibus with the name of the hotel will pick you up at the “Bus Hotel” stop located in all the terminals. You can book your return transfer to the airport at the front desk of the hotel.
Axor Barajas Hotel
Address: C. de Campezo 4, 28022, Madrid
Phone: +34 913 12 19 60
There are many hotels near Madrid airport but Axor Barajas is one of my favorites in terms of value for money.
Hotel Axor Barajas offers all the facilities and services for families and business travelers, such as a relaxing swimming pool for the summer season, a Cyberzone where you can use six computers for free, a complete fitness room on the fifth floor equipped with the latest cardio and weight machines, and a wellness area where you can relax.

Moreover, the hotel’s newsroom has a reading area with a variety of international newspapers and magazines. And adults and children can relax in the WiiZone with free access to Nintendo Wii consoles. Business travelers will find especially convenient the BizzRoom, a free access space designed for small meetings.
There is a huge shopping mall (Plenilunio) within walking distance, which has a good variety of shops and a good variety of dining options.
As you can see, this 4-star airport hotel has all the facilities you could request from one of the best hotels near Madrid Airport. However, and this is an important issue for me, Wi-Fi does not work so well in some of the rooms farther away from the lobby.

Axor Barajas Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle service from the airport to the hotel which starts at 5:00 am from the hotel to the airport and at 7:00 from the airport to the hotel, with an approximate frequency of 30 minutes until midnight.
In the following link the hotel offers more information about the free transfer service and you can download a pdf file with specific instructions in both Spanish and English. It is advisable to call the hotel once you have collected your luggage to arrange for pick-up.
Hilton Airport Hotel
Address: Av. de la Hispanidad 2, 28042, Madrid
Phone: +34 911 53 40 00
Email: info.madridairport@hilton.com
As you know, Hilton Hotels is one of the largest hotel brands in the world, there are over 6,000 Hilton Hotels around the world. It is one of my favorite hotel chains, targeted at both business and leisure travelers. When it comes to a Hilton, perfection is the least you can expect.
The stylish Hilton Madrid Airport Hotel is located only three kilometers from Barajas International Airport.

The hotel has been recently refurbished and guest rooms are pleasant, modern, clean, and spacious, with heated floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. The bed and pillows are comfortable, and the water pressure of the showers is good.
But it is important to consider, at least for me, that the hotel offers free WiFi only in public areas. In-room WiFi is available for an additional cost, except for Hilton Honors members, Hilton’s guest-loyalty program.
Guests of the Hilton Madrid Airport will be able to refresh with a swim in the hydrotherapeutic pool, relax in the sauna, and work out in the complete fitness center.

Besides, you will taste the delicious Mediterranean cuisine in the Reserva Grill Restaurant and enjoy some Spanish tapas and typical drinks in the Ferrum Bar.
This excellent hotel near Madrid airport offers a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport from 5:00 am until midnight every 20 minutes. Don´t forget to check availability with the hotel.
