15 Best Family Hotels in Madrid

Searching for the best family hotels in Madrid?

Congrats, you have come to the right place. When I travel with my family, I always look for hotels that are well-located, and in safe areas of the city center so that I don’t waste time traveling. My daughter loves hotels with swimming pools and playrooms where she can entertain herself.

In addition, I prefer well-known hotel chains that offer all kinds of facilities and amenities, as well as peace of mind and support for any problems that may arise during the trip. The staff at these hotels is always pleasant and attentive to our kids.

Space is also essential when traveling with a family. It is important to keep in mind that the rooms in the best family hotels in Madrid have a reasonable size. But I often choose a superior room, a family room, or a suite, as there are often many offers and the price difference is very low considering the extra comfort it provides.

In any case, you always have to take into account the budget available in each case. That is why I have divided the post into 4 sections:

  • 2 luxury hotels (over 500 € per night for the standard room)
  • 3 high-range hotels (250-500 €)
  • 5 mid-range hotels (150-250 €)
  • 5 budget hotels (under 150 €)

The price is always estimated as it depends on the dates and how far in advance you book, so check the price of all of them before booking to find the best bargain.

Without further ado, these are the best family hotels in Madrid.

Riu Plaza España Hotel

Address: C/ Gran Vía 84, 28013, Madrid
Phone: +34 919 193 393
Email: sales.madrid@riu.com

This emblematic building located in the popular Plaza España on Gran Via Street is a historic skyscraper and one of the tallest buildings in Madrid.

Riu Plaza España offers more than 550 rooms, an outdoor heated swimming pool, a fitness center, and a nightclub, but the hotel is famous for the Sky Bar on the 27th floor with breathtaking views of Madrid, one of the trendiest spots in the city. There is also a glass walkway and balcony where you can stand 27 floors up with only the glass underneath you.

This hotel stands up to the quality and reputation of Riu. It’s a wonderful location to walk to any of the well-known tourist attractions such as the Royal Palace of Madrid, Gran Via, and Temple of Debod.

The rooms are clean and modern, but in this case, it is worth booking a room with a terrace, as the views are amazing.

And if you like shopping, on the ground floor of Riu Plaza España you will find the largest Zara store in the world!

Atlantico Hotel Madrid

Address: C/ Gran Vía 38, 28013, Madrid
Phone: +34 915 226 480
Email: reservas@hotelatlantico.es

Located on Madrid’s Gran Vía street, and it´s just 5 minutes’ walk from the Puerta del Sol, this is one of my favorite family hotels in Madrid.

The unique situation of the hotel is perfect to offer great potential for tourism, shopping, dining, and leisure in Madrid city center. Chueca and Malasaña neighborhoods are pretty close too and they usually have a lively nightlife.

The hotel is decorated in a neoclassic style with tapestries, furniture, and sculptures, and its iconic facade in stone culminates in a French-style dome with some of the best views in the city.

Rooms are well decorated, stylish, and spacious. You could think it would be a noisy hotel being located in an area that never sleeps, but it is not at all as guest rooms are soundproofed.

Atlántico Hotel offers an elegant café-bar and a daily buffet breakfast but choose another of the many surroundings cafes if you like.

Pestana Plaza Mayor Madrid

Address: C. Imperial 8, 28012, Madrid
Phone: +34 910 052 822
Email: plazamayor@pestana.com

Pestana Plaza Mayor is located in a baroque-style building in the most iconic square of Madrid in the very historic center, a stone’s throw away from the main tourist attractions, such as Puerta del Sol, the Royal Palace, and Gran Vía street.

This exclusive hotel of the Pestana Collection brand combines baroque architecture from the 17th Century with sophisticated decor and amenities of the 21st century.

The rooms are stylish, clean, comfortable, and well sound-proofed. In this case, it is interesting to get any of the rooms overlooking the Plaza Mayor on a high floor, which provides an unbeatable view.

But Pestana Plaza Mayor is one of the best family hotels in Madrid mainly due to its spectacular indoor pool, located in the old coal cellars. In order to create a unique environment, the architectural project has preserved the original building’s buttresses and arches.

Catalonia las Cortes

Address: C. del Prado 6, 28014, Madrid
Phone: +34 913 896 051
Email: lascortes@cataloniahotels.com

As you can see, I have included 2 different hotels from the Catalonia Hotels chain, this is an indicator of how much I like them.

Set in a beautiful fully-restored 18th-century building, Catalonia Las Cortes is located in Madrid City Center, next to Santa Ana Square, and close to El Prado Museum and El Retiro Park.

This neighborhood deserves special attention because it is vibrant, clean, and safe while maintaining a bohemian vibe. It is home to affordable art galleries, shops, restaurants, and bars to enjoy a few drinks and Madrid’s nightlife.

It is important to mention that the hotel offers a snack area with free sandwiches, salads, pastries, teas, and soft drinks, open 13:00 – 19:00 from Monday to Friday, and 14:00 – 20:00 on Saturday and Sunday. This is usually a bonus for travelers unused to typical Spanish late dining.

As you could expect, the basic rooms are on the smaller side but the junior suites, while a bit more expensive, are worth it. The bathrooms are clean and modern, and updated with great water pressure.
