Best Madrid itinerary (1, 2, and 3 days)
I am excited to share with you the best itinerary to explore Madrid, depending on whether you have 1 day, 2 days, or 3 days to spend in the city. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, Madrid offers a wealth of attractions and experiences that will delight and inspire you.
1-day Madrid itinerary
If you only have one day in Madrid, you will want to make the most of your time by focusing on the city’s most iconic landmarks and cultural highlights.
While it is possible to visit some of the main attractions in Madrid in a day, it may be challenging to see everything the city has to offer. Madrid is a large city with a rich cultural heritage and a wealth of landmarks and experiences to explore, and one day may not be enough to see it all.
However, with careful planning, prioritizing and following my 1-day Madrid itinerary, it is possible to visit most of the top attractions in a day. It’s important to keep in mind that you may not be able to go into great depth at each attraction or explore as much of the city as you would like.

Afternoon itinerary
If you have more time, it is highly recommended to spend at least 2-3 days in Madrid to fully appreciate all that it has to offer.
2-day Madrid itinerary
If you have two days to explore Madrid, you can dive deeper into the city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary scene.
With an extra day, you can dive deeper into the city’s rich history and cultural heritage. With my 2-day Madrid itinerary you will even have time to visit the famous Prado Museum. Additionally, you’ll have more time to explore Madrid’s diverse neighborhoods, such as the Chueca district and Las Letras neighborhood, and try more of the local cuisine and tasty Spanish tapas at traditional restaurants.

You should have time to enjoy some of the city’s famous nightlife. Madrid is known for its lively and diverse nightlife scene, with numerous bars, nightclubs, and live music venues to choose from. Some of the most popular nightlife areas include the trendy Chueca neighborhood, the upscale Salamanca district, and the historic La Latina district, which is famous for its tapas bars and traditional taverns.
Alternatively, you can take in a traditional flamenco show or watch a Real Madrid match at the Santiago bernabeu Stadium. With so many options to choose from, you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes and interests.
Overall, staying in Madrid for two days allows you to fully immerse yourself in the city’s vibrant atmosphere and discover more of its hidden gems and local secrets.
3-day Madrid itinerary
If you’re lucky enough to have three days to explore Madrid, you can experience even more of the city’s diverse attractions and neighborhoods.
With an extra day, you’ll have time to visit more museums, art galleries, and historic landmarks, such as the Reina Sofia Museum and the Royal Palace. You can also take advantage of the city’s many parks and green spaces, such as the Retiro Park, where you can relax and soak up the sun while enjoying a picnic or a boat ride on the lake.
You will have more time to experience Madrid’s vibrant lifestyle and traditions. You can spend a leisurely afternoon exploring the local shops and boutiques in the trendy Fuencarral district or the historic El Rastro flea market. And when the sun goes down, you can enjoy the city’s famous nightlife, sampling the local cuisine at one of the many tapas bars and tavernas or dancing the night away at one of Madrid’s many nightclubs.
My 3-day Madrid itinerary provides the perfect balance of sightseeing, culture, relaxation, and fun.
